About Me

I am currently an assistant instructor of English at the University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, I am grateful to be teaching in my hometown and city that I love. I have a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in English and American Literature and am on the cusp of completing my coursework to earn a Master's Degree in Literature with a specialization in multicultural literature. I am currently teaching Writing and Rhetoric in Expository English Composition for the First-Year Composition program at UTEP as well as several developmental courses at EPCC.

During my studies, I have been fortunate to explore a variety of topics but my current focus of research involves the spontaneous poetics of writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Gary Snyder, etc). To be more specific, I am looking at the Beat Generation movement within the context of cultures of spontaneity and the contributions of art, music, and philosophy in response to traumatic world events
